Privacy
Last updated October 14, 2026Swooned is a game between friends about your own dating life. It is built so that the least possible is known about you, and nothing readable is known about the people you date.
What we keep
- The first name you type, and which league it belongs to. No account, no email, no phone number, no password.
- A random token in a cookie, one per league, so this phone is recognised as you. Delete the cookie or leave the league and it is gone.
- Your posts (the title, the questions, the note, the dates), your picks, your points, and the results.
- Your phone’s time zone offset, so the Sunday card and reveal nudges arrive in your daytime.
- If you turn pings on: a push address from your browser, or a device token from Apple in the iOS app. Nothing private ever travels in a ping.
- Activity events (a post was made, a pick was placed, a link was shared) for the league stats page and to keep the game honest. They are deleted after a year.
- A one-way hash of your network address, kept for two days, to stop one phone from creating thousands of leagues. The address itself is never stored.
The other person
- Anything you share about who a post is with (a first name, a photo, a line, a voice note, the debrief) is encrypted on your phone with your league’s key before it leaves. Our servers store scrambled data they cannot read, never show it in previews or pings, and export it scrambled.
- The key lives only in your league’s invite link and on your friends’ phones. We never hold it.
- You can delete those details any time. They are deleted on their own 14 days after the reveal, and when the post or the league is deleted.
- Questions are only ever about you. The app blocks questions, titles, and nicknames about someone else’s body, money, sex, or identity.
What leaves your league
- Nothing, unless you share it. A pick link shows your first name, the title, and the questions to whoever has the link. Who picked what and anything about the other person stay inside the league.
- A post you open to Everyone is visible to anyone: your first name, the title, the questions, and the answer. Never the other person.
What we never do
- No ads, no selling or sharing data for marketing. Google Analytics counts visits and taps (which pages, which buttons, roughly where from) so we can see what works; it does not get your name, your picks, or anything about the other person.
- No contacts, no location, no photos beyond the ones you encrypt and attach.
- No real money. Points cannot be bought, traded, or cashed out.
Deleting
- Leave the league from You: your posts, picks, and files are deleted and open points go back to everyone.
- Delete a post: its questions, picks, and files go with it.
- The commissioner can delete the whole league, with everything in it.
- Download my data on You gives you everything we hold about you in that league.
- A league with nothing posted for a year gets one warning, then is deleted a month later with everything in it.
If a post is about you
If someone posted about you and you want it gone, write to the address below with the link. It comes down within 24 hours, no questions, and we tell the poster the rule. The same goes for anything that names or shames you anywhere in the app.
Where it lives
On servers run by Vercel and Supabase in the United States. Pings go through your browser’s push service or Apple. Each of them sees only what is needed to deliver.
Age
Swooned is for people 18 and over. If we learn that someone younger is playing, their data is removed.
